As Executive Director of the Ignatian Spirituality Center, Matt manages the daily operation of the ISC and provides leadership and support for the staff. He networks with other Ignatian ministries in the province, and oversees efforts to ensure the ISC’s long-term sustainability.
Matt worked in Jesuit high school ministry for 35 years prior to taking on the role as Executive Director of the ISC. He was the principal at Seattle Preparatory School for 12 of the past 20 years, and currently works part time at Prep as an English teacher and the Director of Ignatian Formation. He graduated from Santa Clara University, holds a Masters in English from San Francisco State University, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of San Francisco. His dissertation focused on the laity in Jesuit ministries.
Spiritual Direction Services & Outreach
Carolyn has worked at the ISC for over 16 years, and serves in the Spiritual Direction Services, Outreach, and Financial Administration areas at the Center. Through Spiritual Direction Services, Carolyn coordinates a pool of over 65 trained spiritual directors, and connects people with them for spiritual direction. Carolyn also facilitates efforts to support people in the margins and those who serve them via Outreach programming.
Carolyn is a spiritual director and also facilitates and directs in the Spiritual Exercises in Every Day Life retreats.
Maria L. Ochoa
IgNite Program Coordinator (Adults 21-35)
Maria leads programs which engage and support adults ages 21-35. She designs and facilitates experiences which foster spiritual growth, and enable young adults to use Ignatian spirituality as a way to navigate daily life. She also coordinates marketing and communications efforts for the ISC.
Prior to joining the staff, Maria served as the chair of the ISC program council for many years. She formerly served as Assistant Director for the Magis Alumni Ministry at Seattle University, and was the facilitator of the Contemplative Leaders in Action (CLA) program (which will be coming to the ISC fall of 2017). Maria has also worked as a university Resident Minister, and Pastoral Assistant for young adult ministry. She is a graduate of Gonzaga University, and holds a Masters in Transforming Spirituality from the School of Theology & Ministry at Seattle University (focus in spiritual direction and retreat design). She is married and the proud mother of a toddler.
As Program Coordinator, Andrea helps to envision, develop, and offer spiritual formation programs and retreats for the ISC. Prior to coming to the ISC in 2010, Andrea worked as Interim Director of Magis: Alumni Living the Mission, Campus Minister for Liturgical Music, and as a Resident Minister, all at Seattle University.
Andrea has a Bachelor of Architecture degree (minor in Theology) from the University of Notre Dame, and a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School. She has a passion for helping people to grow in their relationship to God, and to appreciate beauty through prayer, reflection, liturgy, music, and the arts. She is married and has two young daughters.
