THE STAFF OF THE IGNATIAN SPIRITUALITY CENTER
As Executive Director of the Ignatian Spirituality Center, Matt manages the daily operation of the ISC and provides leadership and support for the staff. He networks with other Ignatian ministries in the province, and oversees efforts to ensure the ISC’s long-term sustainability. Matt worked in Jesuit high school ministry for 35 years prior to taking on the role as Executive Director of the ISC. He was the principal at Seattle Preparatory School for 12 of the past 20 years, and currently works part time at Prep as an English teacher and the Director of Ignatian Formation. He graduated from Santa Clara University, holds a Masters in English from San Francisco State University, and a Doctorate in Education from the University of San Francisco. His dissertation focused on the laity in Jesuit ministries.
As Program Coordinator, Andrea helps to envision, develop, and offer spiritual formation programs and retreats for the ISC. Prior to coming to the ISC in 2010, Andrea worked as Interim Director of Magis: Alumni Living the Mission, Campus Minister for Liturgical Music, and as a Resident Minister, all at Seattle University. Andrea has a Bachelor of Architecture degree (minor in Theology) from the University of Notre Dame, and a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School. She has a passion for helping people to grow in their relationship to God, and to appreciate beauty through prayer, reflection, liturgy, music, and the arts. She is married and has two young daughters.
MARIA L. OCHOA
IgNite Program Coordinator (Adults 21-35)
Maria leads programs which engage and support adults ages 21-35. She designs and facilitates experiences which foster spiritual growth, and enable young adults to use Ignatian spirituality as a way to navigate daily life. She also leads marketing and communications efforts for the ISC. Prior to joining the staff, Maria was part of the ISC program council, and formerly served as Assistant Director for the Magis Alumni Ministry at Seattle University. She is also a facilitator of the Contemplative Leaders in Action (CLA) program. Maria is a graduate of Gonzaga University, and holds a Masters in Transforming Spirituality from the School of Theology & Ministry at Seattle University. She an artist and creative, wife, and mother to a fun toddler.
CARLA ERICKSON ORLANDO
Spiritual Direction Services
Carla Erickson Orlando coordinates the Spiritual Direction Services for ISC and assists persons interested in connecting with a spiritual director through our Spiritual Direction Connections program. She serves as a spiritual director in the Spiritual Exercises in Everyday Life retreat and the Jesuit Restorative Justice Initiative. Carla teaches and serves as a Vocational Discernment Counselor at Seattle Pacific University and coach for students in the School of Theology and Ministry at Seattle University. She is also on the summer faculty at the Grunewald Guild in Plain, WA. Carla has served as an ISC Board member and as a presenter for a number of ISC programs in the past. She enjoys art, writing, the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and life with her husband, Joe, and their college-age daughters, Sophia and Josephine.
Administrative & Financial Assistant
As our Administrative and Financial Assistant, Katharine cares for the practical needs of the ISC. She maintains our financial records, manages our databases and helps our staff to achieve their goals.
