This Ignatian Life | 2016-2017

A NEW Series on Ignatian Spirituality in Daily Life and Culture

ABOUT THE SERIES

“This Ignatian Life” is a reference to Ira Glass’ “This American Life” on National Public Radio. This NEW annual series will consist of several “acts” or evenings throughout the year unified by the common theme of integrating Ignatian spirituality with daily life & culture.  We hope that this series will respond with timeliness and relevance to the “signs of the times,” and that people will benefit from viewing these current issues through an Ignatian lens.  Come to one, some or all evenings to reflect on this Ignatian life of ours!

ACT III

Redefining Success:  Driven by Achievement or Drawn by Purpose?

Monday, April 24, 2017 |6:30 pm Social | 7:00 pm Program

St. Joseph Parish Center, Seattle (Arrupe Room, main floor)

with Brooke Rufo Hill and Don Manning, presenters

Please RSVP by Thursday, April 20.

How do you define success?

Does it depend on money? Your job? Relationships?  Faith?  Or even trying to “save the world”?

Whether in our profession, family life or community,  we often feel driven by the pressure to succeed – to achieve, acquire, produce, and look good.   We also feel drawn to a greater sense of purpose and meaning in life.   Sometimes that feels in tension with our sincere desire to provide for our family, make a living, and fully enjoy life in the greater Seattle area.   Join presenters Brooke Rufo Hill and Don Manning to explore through the lens of Ignatian spirituality a redefinition of success that isn’t necessarily about WHAT you achieve, but HOW you do what you do. Through prayer, presentation, individual reflection and shared conversation, come gain perspective on how you might live in a more prayerful intentional way that includes discernment, being present to each moment, trusting in God’s desires, and serving something greater than ourselves – in other words, becoming truly successful in God’s eyes.

COST:  Free will offering (suggested donation: $10) to offset the costs of stipends, refreshments, handouts and administration.

RSVP by Thursday, April 20:  to Andrea Fontana at andrea@ignatiancenter.org or (206) 329-4824.

SPREAD THE WORD: Download this flyer (pdf) and share with your friends, family and others who may be interested!
