Are you longing to find a meaningful connection to God in your busy schedule?  Are you thirsting to hear spiritual wisdom relevant to your daily life?  Are you uplifted by worshipping in community with others?  If so, enter more deeply into Lent this year by participating in the Novena of Grace, a meaningful nine-day “retreat in everyday life.”  Presenters Matt Barmore, Fr. Peter Ely, S.J., and Marilyn Nash will reflect on the theme “There is Something Greater Here” from an Ignatian perspective within the context of the Eucharist.  Join a community of others to sing and pray with St. Francis Xavier for graces and for healing.   If you’ve never experienced the Novena before, we hope you will try it out.  We encourage those who have attended to return again, this time inviting a friend, co-worker or family member to experience the abundant graces of this meaningful retreat. This Lent, we will pray that we may respond with hope to God’s invitation to each one of us – to behold something greater here in our midst.

You are welcome to attend one, some or all of the days of the Novena.  Choose  the location that is most convenient for you.

NOVENA PRESENTERS 2014:

Matt Barmore came to the Northwest from San Francisco 17 years ago, lured by the opportunity to work at Seattle Preparatory School. He has worked for 31 years in Jesuit high schools as a principal, teacher, coach, and retreat mentor. After a second stint in administration, Matt found himself drawn back to teaching in the classroom. Matt cannot imagine anything more life-giving than watching young people develop their gifts and respond to the Divine in their lives. Matt currently teaches English, coaches freshman basketball, and serves as the Director of Ignatian Formation for the faculty and staff at Seattle Prep.

Rev. Peter Ely, S.J. is currently vice president for Mission & Ministry at Seattle University and teaches theology courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He has been rector of the Jesuit communities at Seattle University and Gonzaga and was pastor of St. Joseph Parish from 1990-1992.  He came to Seattle University in the fall of 1997 after over 20 years at Gonzaga University, where he was department chair of Religious Studies, Academic Vice President, and rector of the Jesuit community. He published articles in theology and in theological analysis of literature. Fr. Ely has a special interest in the role of compassion as key to forgiveness.

Marilyn Nash was born in Pennsylvania, moved to Seattle as a member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and fell in love with the northwest. After JVC, she worked in social services attending to communities who were homeless or on the margins. She has a special interest in the body’s relationship to spirituality and worked as a massage therapist for over 10 years. She is an alumna of Seattle University’s School of Theology and Ministry with a specialization in spiritual direction. Her current position as Campus Minister for Ignatian Spirituality at Seattle U, working with students on retreats and spirituality, is a dream job come true.
