Ignatian Spirituality for Men

In the Steps of Ignatius 2017 | “The Search for Enough” series

LARGE GROUP GATHERINGS   (Vince Herberholt, facilitator)

Men of all ages and faith backgrounds are invited this Winter to one, two or all three offerings of Ignatian spirituality just for men.  The series theme this year is “The Search for Enough.”  Modern American culture today seems to urge men to do more, be more, produce more, consume more, read more, etc. When is enough?  What if we were to relook at our relationship to time, our money and possessions, and our commitments?  How can we discern between these goods?   And how can we live more simply, so that others may simply live?  Each gathering will include social time, prayer, stimulating presentations, and meaningful time to reflect individually and with others. Join other men interested in being Ignatian “contemplatives in action.”

EVENT IV – IN TACOMA!!!

“Choosing Enough:  Discerning Between Goods”

Thursday, April 20, 2017 | 6:30 pm Social, 7:00 pm Program | St. Patrick’s Parish Center, Tacoma

with John Hickman, presenting

Please register by Monday, April 17:

Am I doing enough of what God wants me to do? What does God want me to do?

When we’re coming from a place where we know God loves us, we may see more clearly God’s abundance in our lives. But, how do we choose from among all the goods that God gives us, and still know we have enough for ourselves and the world?  Join presenter John Hickman and other men to explore how St. Ignatius’ guidelines for the discernment of spirits can help you make choices for the greater good in your life and in the lives of others.  This evening will include prayer, presentations on abundance vs scarcity and on Ignatian discernment, writing exercises, personal reflection, and group conversation.

This is a part of the “Search for Enough” series, but is also a “stand-alone” evening.  Attendance at previous “Search for Enough” men’s events is NOT required.

COST:

EVENT III – THIS HAS OCCURRED ALREADY

“The Freedom of Enough:  Living Simply in God’s Abundance”

Thursday, March 30, 2017 | 6:30 pm Social, 7:00 pm Program

St. Joseph Parish Center, Seattle

with Gerry Scully and Michael Stuart, presenting

What would “living with enough” feel like?   If you chose to live out of a fuller sense of God’s abundance rather than a fear of scarcity,  how would that change your life?  Would that free you to live more simply, “so that others may simply live”?  Join presenters Gerry Scully (Executive Director, L’Arche) and Michael Stuart (New Creation Community at Recovery Cafe)  and other men to reflect on how our “search for enough” can lead to greater freedom for ourselves and those around us.   This evening will include prayer, presentations, personal reflection, small and large group conversation.
